The DEMOCRAT project demonstrator is presently deployed in a provisional site within the industrial facilities of Efacec, in Maia, Portugal. As of January 2020, the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is already installed, with a 3-phase connection to the LV grid. The 15 kV grid connection will be implemented at the final demonstrator site, yet under construction.
The BESS also feeds a micro-grid, presently composed by a QC 45 electric vehicle fast charger and a load bank, both representing an overall load of 43 kVA and 250 kVA, respectively.
